VPS Quick Start Guide

Congratulations and thank you for purchasing a VPS from Webhost.Berlin! This Quick Start Guide provides all the information you need to get your new VPS up and running.

Welcome e-mail

After you purchase a VPS from Webhost.Berlin, you receive an e-mail message when account setup is complete. This message provides the following important information:

  • The VPS domain name.
  • The VPS IP address.
  • The installed operating system (OS) template.
  • SSH account information.
    You must log in to the Webhost.Berlin Customer Portal to view your SSH password. For more information about how to use the Customer Portal, please see these articles.
  • DNS name server information.

Administration interfaces

There are several ways to administer your VPS, depending on whether it is managed or semi-managed.

Webhost.Berlin Customer Portal

You can control basic aspects of your VPS from the Webhost.Berlin Customer Portal. After you log in, click My Services, and then click Manage next to your VPS plan. Scroll down to Virtual Server Control. From here, you can shut down, boot, or reboot your VPS. You can also view information about disk space, bandwidth, and memory usage.

cPanel

cPanel is the primary interface for managed VPS plan customers. For more information about how to use cPanel, please see these articles.

SolusVM

SolusVM is the primary control panel for semi-managed VPS accounts. You can access it at https://solusvm.berlin.hosting:5656. SolusVM enables you to control or view the following:

  • Disk space, bandwidth, and memory usage for the VPS.
  • Power control: shutdown, boot, and reboot.
  • System control: change which operating system image you want to use for the VPS, change your root password or hostname, and access the console.
  • IP information, logs, and statistics.

You can also specify contact information. We may occasionally need to contact you regarding your services, so please keep your contact information up to date. You should use an e-mail address that is still accessible even if the VPS is not working.                  

DNS server setup

If you purchased a new domain from Webhost.Berlin or transferred a domain to Webhost.Berlin, you can use the following name servers for your VPS:

  • dns1.name-services.com
  • dns2.name-services.com
  • dns3.name-services.com
  • dns4.name-services.com

To set the name servers, log in to the Webhost.Berlin Customer Portal. Click My Domains, locate the domain, and then click Manage Domain. To set the name servers, click Nameservers. To create DNS Records for your domain, click Management Tools, and then click Manage DNS. You will probably want to create an A record that points to your VPS IP address.

If your domain is with another registrar, you must use their DNS management interface.
