How to manage multiple stores in Magento

This article discusses how to manage multiple stores in Magento.

About multiple stores

Magento has built-in support for multiple stores, which enables you to manage multiple stores using the same interface.

This feature is useful if you have stores on several domains or subdomains. Instead of logging in to each store separately to administer it, you can log in once and work with all of the stores simultaneously. Additionally, you can centralize and share many settings between stores (such as product catalogs) to simplify site administration.

Accessing the multi-store feature

To access the multi-store feature in Magento, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Magento as the administrator.
  2. Follow the step appropriate for the Magento version you have installed:
    • Magento 2: On the left sidebar, click Stores, and then under Settings, click All Stores.
    • Magento 1.9 and older versions: On the top menu bar, click System, and then click Manage Stores.

Managing multiple stores

To manage multiple stores, you must first configure product categories, create stores and hierarchies, and more.
